Scott Mc Farnon at the 12 Bar

After gaining some attention in an 02 music competition in 2006 Scott McFarnon's life seems to have started becoming studded with stars.
He was whisked off to LA last year to hook up with Amanda Ghost and has had interest in some co-written songs from Beyonce and Shakira through her, he recorded with Rupert Hine and was managed briefly by Graeme Lowe. Promising early rumblings which have since appeared to have cooled off a little but the thing is with these situations is that they can often pop up again when you least expect. So some good foundations have been laid for what will I am sure be a happy career as a songwriter.
Scott comes across as a very affable and comfortable performer and his songs do well to satisfy an audience looking for deeper layers, musically and lyrically.
Personally I thought "Red" was his strongest song this night but was by no means the only good song in the all too brief collection. I would like to see him play a longer set.
A good feeling to have when you come away from a gig.
The guitar work is intricate, busy and clever though not indulgent. His vocal is sublimely passionate with falsetto moments easing in and out with an interesting vibrato.
Scott in an acoustic singer songwriter worth getting to know and I strongly recommend sampling some fare at his myspace site and then going to see him perform soon. You will then be able to look back and say "Oh yeah, I saw him before he was famous playing small clubs in London…" but in my opinion you don't have much time for that because I think it is only a matter of time before the levee breaks and he's whisked out of our immediate reach by a surging tide of discovery, fame and bigger less personal gigs.
