Bon Jovi - "This Left Feels right"
Like them or not, Bon Jovi have serious rock history.
The ultimate ride.
Obscurity, stratospheric rock adulation, egomaniacal problems, burn out, split,
solo projects that didn't amount to much, self growth and rekindling, love and
appreciating each other for what they are and now doing what they do best as
more mature and happier performers.
This is a bit more than your typical "unplugged" set.
But is does reveal, by stripping the songs down, that Bon Jovi really wrote
some fine rock songs.
Commercial, yes.
That's why they became global superstars.
But more importantly melodic. Good songs. You can't deny a good song.
And the
best proof is when you strip them down and do them acoustically.
So here are the boys doing just that.
"This Left Feels Right".
Older, wiser, this is a performance by some happy people. They are in a good
place.
Jon smiles like a Cheshire Cat. Richie, smiles at Jons awful Elvis impersonations.
These guys are friends once more.
They have found a happy place together and are loving their music.
Possibly, maybe for the very first time, really loving what they do.
Nothing to prove any more.
No pressures.
Discovering for themselves that these songs revisited, are good songs and stand
the test.
And they do sound great. Slower, acoustic, completely rousing.
Almost anthemic.
You can't sell rubbish, and the crowd are lapping up every second.
For a quiet acoustic gig, they are as rowdy for the band as ever.
Jon's vocal reigns supreme, one reason why they became the hottest band on earth.
He is as good looking and charismatic as ever.
Richie Sambora plays like only he can.
A wonderful style, full of passion, blues and rock as required.
His backing vocals are also wonderfully delivered and sat right up front with
Jon, he takes his place as just an integral part of the band as ever.
No room
for egos any more, they honestly seem to love each other and what they have
done and what they are now doing.
This DVD is a major release. A double DVD Limited Edition of as fine a rock
band as you will get.
Stuffed full of extras, documentaries and features, I would not believe a crediditable
collection that did not include this on its shelf.
If you are a fan this is the crowning glory of an enviable career.
If not, it still stands up as a superb document of a band that has lived the
all hallowed rock dream, and have come out, definitely on top.
